Stop Listing – Start Speaking: What Makes a Resume Actually Work
August 8, 2025The Hidden Cost of Bad Website Design
August 20, 2025The Harsh Reality
Running a small business means wearing every hat, owner, accountant, customer service rep, and, somewhere in the chaos, “marketing expert.” Most owners pour time and money into marketing, yet see little return. The truth? It’s not your business failing, it’s your approach.
Let’s call it what it is, then fix it.
The Top Mistakes Small Businesses Make
1. Scattergun Budgeting
A little here on Facebook ads, a little there on flyers, a website you half-built five years ago… money goes out, but nothing connects. Without a focused strategy, you’re just burning dollars.
2. Go-It-Alone Syndrome
DIY marketing feels “cheaper.” But without the right tools and skills, you’re trading hours for frustration, and still falling behind competitors with polished websites and SEO.
3. Shiny-Object Syndrome
Chasing trends, “We need TikTok!” while ignoring the basics… fast websites, clean design, and strong messaging. That’s decorating a crumbling house.
4. No Tracking or Accountability
If you can’t measure what’s working, you can’t improve. Many businesses throw effort at marketing with no idea if it’s paying off.
Why It Matters
Every mistake above bleeds money and opportunity. Customers leave a slow website. Confusing messaging loses sales. A flashy trend might bring likes but no conversions. The result? A business that feels invisible, even when you’re hustling nonstop.
